Willamette University to merge with struggling Pacific Northwest College of Art

The financially challenged Pacific Northwest College of Art will merge with Willamette University. PNCA will become part of Salem-based Willamette but will retain its name, faculty and current campus, the two institutions said Thursday morning. The merger comes after on-and-off talks and negotiations between the two schools going back five years. The talks got serious 18 months ago and the boards of the two institutions approved the deal Wednesday.
