Montclair State and Bloomfield College Merge

Bloomfield College will become part of Montclair State University, formalizing a merger that has been in the works for months. Going forward, Bloomfield will be known as Bloomfield College of Montclair State University. This successful outcome vindicates Bloomfield’s decision last fall to be open about their need for a strategic partner. Bloomfield received interest from 30-plus institutions of which eight submitted formal proposals, including Montclair State which is roughly ten miles away. This merger continues a trend of public-private transactions including Martin Methodist College/University of Tennessee Southern and Wesley College/ Delaware State.   Subscription may be required to read this post.
